This is one of the most common fears among patients. Local anaesthesia is enough for the implantation procedure, while it takes only 15 minutes to place the implant without any discomfort. If the patient also wants a “psychological anaesthesia”, sedation (suppression of consciousness with medication) can be used.

It usually takes 3 to 5 months for the implant to fully bond to the bone.

An implant restores the foundation of a tooth - i.e. the root of the tooth itself in the bone, while the “tooth” (crown) is placed over the implant after it fully bonds. This involves a separate procedure. Thus, the complete tooth reconstruction consists of two stages: implant placement and implant-supported prosthesis.

If the bone tissue is lost, this is not a suitable solution - the surgeon will evaluate the possibility of restoring the bone foundation (by a bone augmentation). The need and cost of additional surgery will be assessed by your dentist during the first consultation.

It is important to prepare for both the "before" and "after" periods. You will need to be completely healthy before the procedure, as any comorbidities that directly affect your immune system will affect the implant healing. In the case of chronic diseases, we recommended consulting your family doctor before an implantation. For 14 days after the implantation, we recommend refraining from active physical activities. In some cases, antibiotics are prescribed after the procedure. Patients will be informed in detail about this and more by their dentist and their treatment plan coordinator.

Properly maintained implants will heal and serve as your natural teeth. They should be brushed with a regular toothbrush and toothpaste. However, regular oral hygiene and diagnostic tests are necessary for the implant to last a lifetime.
